Hi,

so...I have:
created a model in Wings 3D.
Exported as an .obj
Imported into UV mapper
mapped, exported .obj and map bitmap

When I import this .obj into a 3D app like Cinema 4D, the texture doesn't map. Am I missing something?

Did you try going in the Material Tab in C4d,File/New Material,Double Click the Material icon and in the 'Color' section load the image map then simply drag and drop the material on your object either in the Manager or directly in the scene?

I've only played a bit with the older demo versions of c4d and I don't know what it is nowadays, been a while.

Yes, created new texture, loaded texture jpg into this, mapped it to object as UV...failed miserably!

Using C4D 5SE...free on Computer Arts about 8 or 9 months ago. C4D 6CE is out this week on a 3D mag, can't remember which one. It's not the full monty, but you can get the full V6 for about £90 via the mag.

I do not know C4d at all but, what helps me when things go wrong I simplify the problem and find what the error is. For example loading the texture properly, or checking the actual scale?

Try this. Load your new texture on to a plane or sphere. If that works then we can look at your object. Best of luck!

If the model has been textured in segments, meaning that there were different separate object sharing parts of the bitmap,I think you'll have to make a selection tag for each of them(Set selection) and apply the texture in it's attribute/selection...Not sure like I said,I haven't tried that one quite some time now.

Maybe it is just a simple mistake of having the viewport option Not to show the textures
