I am considering doing some work on models for TGC store but first I would like to test the waters a bit.

I will send out this Barn and Gate for free to anyone who posts here on 12/5/09. Then after you receive it I would really appreciate some feedback! Thanks and I am looking forward to your responses. Please be sure your email is available! Free to use for whatever you like.

Looks great, will go well with Kravenwolf's countless old shack and barn models.

Its a nice model, but, this fashion, started by Kravenwolf for giving free to those that post a comment, I think it counts as spam (see UAP) to be honest, its unfair to other thread makers, and also if one is going to give something for free in a time limited offer, then have it for free, and put a download link, these threads are going to end in tears as those that dont get the download link after they have posted their tribute to mighty Rome will be spitting their dummies out. Before we know it, lots of you will be having their models distributed in this way and its going to cause conflict with those giving free models and not requiring the 'tribute' and having their threads pushed down.

fallen one@

I agree with you 100%, Its unfair to other forum members because;

A) Only a few members get the download not everyone.
B) Its sounds to me like a kind of blackmail, LEAVE A COMMENT AND YOU GET THE DOWNLOADLINK, ( If not!? Forget it!!)
C) This way other threads are pushed back.

I know that everyone wants some recognition for his work and that this forum could be sometimes hard, but i dont think this is the right way. This method could become messy in the future.

mAcpo@

Dont take this personal please, its my honest opinion,
About your model, its great, and i like your style, but i will leave this one. thanks alot for the oppertunity,

Hope to see you soon at TGC store

I think it's a great method. Sure, it may not fit to everyone's time region, but that's like saying "it's unfair to host the olympic games in America because their events will be on when we're asleep."

Idk, maybe it's a marketing method. Make the people who didn't get it for free jealous so that they're ready to buy it once it's in the TGC store?

I suppose I might as well throw in my 2 cents

Quote: "this fashion, started by Kravenwolf for giving free to those that post a comment, I think it counts as spam"

Giving away a free model in exchange for a comment is no more 'spam' than model request threads that require a comment to attain a model just the same. I don't see anything wrong with encouraging people to participate on the forum, in fact, I thought it was a good idea, which is why I decided to give it a shot. However, if the mods do see my contributions as spam, all they have to do is give the word, and I will no longer post them.

Quote: "its unfair to other thread makers having their threads pushed down"

I don't really see how. The quality of the models have more to do with the popularity of a thread than the way they're being handed out. It also depends on weather or not the people that see the thread chose to leave a comment. Quite a few of my free model threads (no strings attached) receive 20 or 30 comments in less than a few days, from people just showing their appreciation (which I appreciate just the same). Is that also unfair to other thread makers?

Quote: "these threads are going to end in tears as those that dont get the download link after they have posted their tribute to mighty Rome will be spitting their dummies out."

That is in fact, very true. But unfortunatley, you can't please everyone. But the way that those who miss out on these opportunities chose to handle the situation is entirely up to them. Weather they do the sensible thing and just move on and wait for another opportunity, or they send you an email saying they will no longer purchase your GC store media, or (and my personal favorite ), they tribute a hate thread about "Krawenwolf" for everyone to see, and then get themselves banned for a week for handling the situation so poorly. Just a heads up for what lies ahead, mAcpro

I don't see anything wrong with this kind of model-releases... it's just an interesting distribution method, and this way people get what they deserve - comments for their hard work.

It happens so often, that people post free media, everyone grabs the download, and just a few people make comments on it...

So, very nice work, mAcpro!

I guess it has some to do with your reason for making or giving away models. Some do it for fun, some for notoriety, and some for both. If the model will indeed go in the store and he's giving it away for free then more power to him and everyone who gets it.

Nice model, I especially like the roof.

These sorts of threads are pretty far down on the list of what I would concider to be actual spam, on this board.

Looks very nice, BTW. Esp the roof.
