Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched the board and couldn't find it.

I'm a complete noob (just installed DBP today) and would appreciate a bit of guidance in this.

if you mean do you need admin rigts, then i do half the time, the other half if it works without. But i dont use the standard IDE, i would suggest you go download Codsurge or another IDE(Will have no effect on admin rights though, just sugesting)

I have mine saved in program files and it doesn't if I simply click open, if you want to avoid turning UAC off then all you need to do Is right click and run as administrator

Find the editor where you installed it and go to properties and click the compatibility tab, you should see a box that says admin priv. If its in program files then it need admin priv
