As some of you know already the new GTA games (GTA3, Vice, San)
are loading their big city by sections.

Whole world is big grid. Not whole world is loaded at once but small part of it. If user moves around then old part will be unloaded and next section will be loaded. Also some fog is used to hide this.

Is it possible to load world like that in DBPro? I mean rect by rect? If user goes away from one zone then unload this model and load next.
For example i have world divided into many small parts to keep the FPS high.

How this could be done?

Check Dave Milton's presentation in the videos in my signature, he explains how it's done.

I emailed TGC asking if we can get the slides and demos and response was:

"I'm afraid that's everything we have."

I also emailed Dave Milton, but no response yet. But of course he hasn't been on forums also pretty a while. Hopefully he responses and gives some info.

I was reading old topics here and the demos and slides should have been online already in 2008, how can TGC be such careless about such things. Could even upload few simple files after all these years. It's 2010 in few days.

But Dave Milton videos were so great. Best ones. He talks clearly and explains things in a way that you really understand plus a little humor. Very good. Just like my driving school teacher was.

I even understand the method behind this all but still, i would like to get sources and slides.

OK, i have talked with Motionbox and they said they maybe can actually even get videos back if uploader will send them email.

So if anybody knows here who uploaded videos here

http://www.thegamecreators.com/?gf=convention2008

Then please let me know.

Whoever uploaded these videos should contact directly Motionbox support.

C'mon Guys. Let's dig out who uploaded them and maybe we will get the videos back.

They were so useful.

Well, i've bought DGS a few months back, and those videos (of the TGC Convention 2008) where on the DVD. Are they what you're looking for?

Yes, TGC said that they are on DVD but i don't have it and probably never will.
Does it have demos and slides also on DVD?

Why is that?

Well, the demos and slides are shown on the videos. There are 7 or 8 videos, where they talk about DBPro, DGDK, there plugins, and explain several issues like streaming, creating objects from vertices, how to sculpt terrain, and so. Really interesting topics. But sometimes the code is not always readable, due to the resolution.

Try this link (it should be the same videos that i have on DVD):

I know that slides and demos are on videos. Im talking about real files. Really the DVD doesn't include them?

Only videos?

Thanks for the links though.
Seems that my complaints to Motionbox helped.
