Hi all,

In a bought of early morning PHPing I have added 4 quite cool new features to the forum as well as the 3 I added yesterday. The complete list is as follows:

1) The drop-down forum nav now automatically goes to the right area without having to click the Go button (if you have JS enabled)

2) When reading a forum thread it now displays an abbreviated version of the Board Name before the Subject - easier navigation. From here you can simply click "Top" to get back to the board list or Home to get to the list of Boards.

3) "My Threads" link added (only if logged in). Shows all Threads you started with paging support. The "new" colours are a bit messed at the moment though, I'm aware of this.

Set the following in your Forum Profile:

4) Hide Signature Images. Enable this and you'll no longer see any images that are part of users signatures.

5) Use Enhanced Post Form option. For those who had trouble with the message post form taking an age for them to type anything - use this option (set it to "No"). You will get a much simpler post form and no Javascript will load either.

6) Messages Per Page. You can now customise the number of messages to be displayed per page when reading a thread. The default is 40. Those on slower connections will find a value around 20 significantly faster, especially when combined with the "hide sig images" option above.

7) Threads Per Page. You can now customise the number of threads that are displayed when viewing a Board. The default is 50. Users on a slower connection should set this to around the 25 mark.

8) Threads are no longer locked when there is a multi-page thread that started more than 30 days ago.

If you find any problems, post here please.

Cheers,

Rich

Damn very early work Rich, i am on to murder some tech support team who apparently works from 8am, well i will see about that.

The forums are comming on great! Just one question, could you make it a option to have the drop down list thing? Unlike some people i do not use it that often...

Thanks - although I don't understand what you mean by an option on the drop down things. Which drop downs? What option do you need?

Cheers,

Rich

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /u2/www/users/pairdoor/tgc/modules/apollo/index.php on line 65

I got this error when I clicked on enter the forums while I was not logged in. Is this a thing that should be, or not. If this should be, than there'd better be some page with 'You should be logged in' or something.
Other than that the forum looks great.

Although no probs

On thing though, could you make the new topic and reply boxes first on the tab list? Would make things a lot easier, thanks

pricey: topcities does not allow hotlinking of images. That's the downside of most freebie hosting companies. There are a few free ones that do allow them but I don't know any.

Rich can we have it so that we can reply directly to a post in a thread and it pulls in their post and quotes it automatically?

Every post could have a REPLY button so I can reply to that post and have it quoted within my message and also still be able to view
the thread. Like make a popup window with the editor.

Also being able to have different color schemes for the forums would be nice. I would perfer light(white or yellow) foreground on a dark background (dark blue or black).

Personally, I find no fault of the old 'copy & paste' tactic, why I used it just now

How about being able to select what page number you can go to on the forum lists á la RGT. In that case we wouldnt have to open up a thread at a part we've seen but can skip right ahead to the active part.

Cheers,
