is it true that graphics card prices will fall after the release of heavy-graphics games like half life2 and oom3, because everyone will rush out to buy new graphics cards (to play the games) and the prices will fall?

Will newer cards' prices begin to drop? Yes. Will it permenantly change the industry? No. It's just that the latest line of cards aren't brand new any more, and the industry is making way for the next batch.

prices will fall when the next generation come out, however it is entirely likely the big boys will try to cash in on the new games that are developed specifically for them.

However i would reckon they won't do this until Christmas time, but thats kinda obvious.

as for if they'll change the industry, the GeForceFX 5900 has already changed what was though possible even with the new technologies ... although the current line of cards probably won't be heralded as what actually changed games development, we all know the simple fact here that the GeForce GPU has completely altered the computer industry - without the GPU and the architecture that game with it, quite frankly who knows if Shaders would've even been thought of and even if they had, they'd of no doubt ended up as single card/chip specific like Glide was back in the day.

would never have even made a dent in the graphics industry, let alone totally turned the development world on its head to include them in thier products.

Any time, it dosen't really matter. If you buy them when the prices are up, you get a good card but pay more. If you buy them when the prices are down, you get a card that's about to be replaced as the best, but pay less.
