Some time ago, I made a WWII model pack of epic proportions...now I am out to out do myself with WW II MP2! It is still a work in progress but any ideas or suggestions for NON animated additions would be appreciated and possibly included.

here are some of the first finished models

Looks great Gladius. You did a great job on the first pack, with the different "fronts" you provided. Look forward to seeing this one. You have some hard work to outdo your first one

BTW, I meant to ask if we are permitted to use your previous pack and your next one in commercial games, or are they for personal usage only? I ask because we're on a WIP (WW2- Germany's Uprising: forum post- WIP link) and your packs fit the focus of the game and will actually help with creating this game from 4 different perspectives.

Cheers

Gladius, your work is great! I've searched out your posts and wanted to say "great stuff!" Can't wait to see your finished game!

And since I can't email you directly...

I'm a screenwriter and artist trying to move from the film industry into game design, and WWII is one of my passions (I've been scripting a vanity WWII web series). I picked up FPS Creator as a basic learning tool, but now -- and partly because of your work -- I'm seeing a lot more potential in this program than originally thought. Anyway, I'm new to this game world, but an old hand at compelling storytelling... and WWII. If you'd have time for a short email dialog on your work and WWII video gaming, I'd really dig it.

A-ok. Many thanks.

Well, here goes...

a) Why FPS Creator? What brought you to this program?
b) Are games a possible career or hobby for you?
c) Do you have a background in coding/programming? Self-taught or school?
d) Are you interested in working on a production team or solely your own work?
e) What is your interest in WWII?

Ok, so that takes care of the initial burning questions. And no, I'm not looking for particular answers... just to learn...

As for me... I've been playing videogames since Sears had a box system in '75. You could play pong/tennis in 6 variations. Years later I'd spend hours on Zork and text adventures. Had some Basic and Cobalt lessons. Later I'd fiddle with LucasArts Indy RPG's. Then a few years back I started getting hooked on WWII through Playstation II games. I'm definitely interested in computer games, but I think consoles are the future (treat them well and let them lead the way). So, I'm a screenwriter. No, I haven't had anything produced (yet)... although I was one of the guys behind the DOC SAVAGE movie with Arnold a few years back (that he pushed at ComicCon and was unfortunately never made). Anyway, I'm fascinated by WWII, have begun writing fictional WWII web series, and upon finding FPS Creator, I started to think of adapting the scripts into a series of games... and possibly migrating my art and writing background into game design as a career. So, I'm interested in learning the art/craft of writing for games, trying my hand in developing some of my own ideas, and maybe writing for others' projects...? Until FPS Creator, I'd toyed with the idea, but never found a basic tool/engine that I could understand and a community where I felt comfortable -- as a newbie -- reaching out.

CapnBuzz-

I had been using various programs to make models for Halo combat evolved mods and coding RTS game mods for a few years before I heard of FPSC. I immediately fell in love with the program as it was more easily customizable than say Halo.working in the gaming industry has been on m mind for sometime, though I decided that it would remain a hobby for now. In therms of coding, I know little compared to most others on the scripting boards, I taught my self what I know and have had a little experience through my work with flash. I have interest in teaming up to create a game, but I always felt I needed to prove my self as a creator first(hence why I post my work on the forums). My interest in ww2 has to do with my love of history and the clear side in that war. I think of it as the most epic war between the forces of good and evil, perfect for any story. of course I have a great respect for all soldiers who fought and died in the war, I don't treat the war as nothing more than a fun story.

hope that helps

Gladius,

Thanks! Yes, all interesting... and inspiring. Passion makes great art, stories, games...

Yeah, that's what gets me about WWII as well. I have a few hundred WWII movies and refernce library of good size. Recently I've tried to get involved in shooting interviews with WWII veterans for different archive sites (442nd "Go For Broke"). It's a passion.

I echo your sentiments with respect for the men and women of war. I've written supernatural WWII stories that work because war is horrific by nature, but I have a difficult time accepting things like EA's cartoon-y BATTLEFIELD HEROES.

I've never done modding (although my housemate mods a few games) or anything with games -- except play them. When I started thinking screenwriting could apply directly to gaming, I bought a few books on game design and ordered FPS Creator. And in my short time dissecting games, I've found that a lot of them are great exercises in "trigger pulling," but not a lot have great stories... The great game stories -- even in the WWII genre -- are still out there to write.

I'm interested in developing a team -- in time -- to see where things might lead on developing a WWII web series into a game (or series of games). If you would ever need help with story -- the dramatic -- let me know. I would be happy to offer anything I could.
