I was thinking about making a dating sim game with dark gdk.I was trying to figure out how to handle the no doubt huge amount of dialogue you will have that just comes along with making anything story driven. So I visited several forums and someone suggested using XML files to handle it rather than hard coding.I've looked around google to try and find a tutorial on the subject of handling XML files in dark GDK but none of the ones checked so far gave me any real info.Does anyone here know a resource I could check out.I am relatively new to Dark GDK and programming in general but I am eager to learn.

It was such a small seed... I needed to find out what was growing inside. And there was only one way to find out. So I decided to raise it.

I don't think that DarkGDK has this functionality built-in, but any third party library would work.

Here's a pretty good one: http://www.grinninglizard.com/tinyxml/.

Here's another (not as good): http://www.mindcontrol.org/~hplus/xmlscan.html

Hey,

I don't know if you already have a solution but if not take a look at LMX (http://www.codalogic.com/). They have a free version that provides really effective XML to c++ data binding by compiling XML schema files into c++ source.

I tried it out today and its awesome!!! I have been looking for something like this for ages because I am a regular XMLBeans user in Java but all the c++ solutions I found were mega expensive... Until I stumbled onto this.
