I'd like to be able to put all my media files into a single file that my game can then read. I don't want to have to worry about people ripping graphics from the game. How would I be able to create these files?

In the beginning there was nothing. There'll be nothing in the end...

You can't totally stop people from ripping graphics from your games... you can only make it harder. You can make your own file formats using IanM's Matrix 1 Utilities plugins database commands.

my favorite method is putting the media in a zip file, setting a password, and changing the extension to a different one, maybe bmp.

that is google's method, google earth kmz files are just .zip...
