Basically just a quick arena I whipped together while taking a day off from Inhuman Basterds, I've spent to much time on that this last couple of weeks, nearly finished though.

It's a middle eastern setting, a village turned military compound, a fair size, good selection of MP5 weapons and you can choose between ISAF soldiers or Insurgents. Should put it up for download within the next couple of days, just a few creases to iron out before it's ready.

Based the look of the arena on photographs and video I've come across from the gulf war, the iraq war and the war in afghanistan hence the burning oil wells surrounding the map.

Few questions for the community actually. What would you rather see in the arena?
1.
A. Everyone starts with a basic pistol (Desert Eagle)
B. Everyone starts with a gun representative of their class, e.g. Insurgents with AK47's and ISAF soldiers with M4's or SA80's?
2.
A. 2 Player
B. 4 Player
C. 6 Player (might be a few too many for the map, ideal if teams were possible but for a basic deathmatch it would get crowded.)
3.
A. Released as it is, to this forum, if people play it good, if not whatever.
B. A forum built into my website to aid with the organising of games. (could also make it about other subjects just to keep people on the forum).

Would appreciate the feedback and any other advice.

Agreed with bugsy. Looks like a Combat Arms type of game Maybe, MAYBE even CS-ish.

you don't need lemur to make teams

it;s so simple!

place 3 similar looking characters at one end of the map

place 3 more on the other end. give them all very low health, and call it a realistic hardcore team deathmatch.

Bugsy - Yeah i thought about that however the player would score for team kills. The easiest way to make teams is to stop a player from scoring points when certain players are killed, but i don't think there's a script for that.

Bass guy1669 - thanks i'll check that out.

Do you think the lighting is a bad idea? should I scrap the lighting and shading? I mean it looks alright, certainly a lot better than it does without it, but some people may struggle with the lag.

thanks man.

1 final question, 1 shot kills or not? Personally think it makes it as realistic as possible without specific limb damage, but then again is it better for gameplay?

Right I've built the game now. I've kept the lighting basic in the end, it's not as dark as it was on the previous screenshots for gameplay reasons, it's less laggy and it's a lot easier to see.

All I have to do now is change the menu, loading screen and possibly the huds and it should be ready to upload.

WAIT
I know why it's laggy for you, the whole level is built past the walls. just surround the level with walls and get rid of all the outside ground!!

also put the lighting and fog back. I'd much rather have a close quarters game without much visibility, but lots of atmosphere than a boring, non-atmospheric every-fps.

Yeah suppose it did look better, especially when sniping. Sniping is pretty cool when you can only just about make your enemy out in the fog.

Getting rid of the outside floor will help I suppose, though it makes the map look pretty dull outside it does solve the player confinement issue, means i can get rid of hte invisible walls also.

NOOBY EDIT

Having great difficulty getting the ambience, fog and skybox to change after the build. I've done it before but it's been a couple of years since I last really made a game in fpsc so I'm a bit rusty.

I apologise for the noobyness of this post but any help would be appreciated, I just can't seem to find the script for it in the built game.

PROBLEM SOLVED

I found it almost immediately after posting that lol

Could I ask for a mod to close this thread as the game is no longer a WIP and is now on the showcase board. Thank you =D
