Is there anyone who actually doesn't care about winning the compo prize, but only wants to submit his game because he views the compo as a challenge to increase/show his skills ?

It's easy to not care when you have a good computer already

Well, when you think about it, showcasing your work and seeing what others think about is a learning process. Everytime you code it is a learning process. It may be a challenge but I can get challenges elsewhere

I care about the prize, but only cuz I'm a huge gamer and this comp ain't cuttin it no more

I've been outcasted from the public's society.

The prize sounds great, but I'm more shallow than that, I just want the recognition more than anything. I thought I had a fighting chance in the Retro Compo, but my project was far too ambitious.

That's right, you heard it from the Ant, he's in it because of Ego.

Yes it was 95. I downloaded about 70 of them until they were removed but I believe Rich is putting them back on the site soon as they are good for showing off to prospective customers! Some of them are good for picking through the source good to get ideas.

I will almost certainly enter compo but work commitments at the minute means I don't get much spare time until next month. I fully expect not to win judging by the posts of others but then again, most people who had great ideas did not enter retro comp and winner was some silly block pushing puzzle game!

I think it would be a good idea for most regulars to at least have a go as it is a great incentive to get off you butt and actually code something.

i have some nice rigs here... but i don't have any which have been professionally setup to game on.
an alienware rig is not just a gaming rig, but the No.1 gaming rig ... over standard WindowsXP thier OEM version is capable of pushing your hardware alot faster, with less going on in the background to slow down online play.

i'm not to shabby with windows, but when i need my most powerful systems to render on - meaning ALOT of overhead from several programs (C-Dilla, FlexLM, raymi3x3, pixarRM, MesRen) add to this i just don't have the time to sit there editing up the setup of windows everytime i reinstall it.

to me atleast, the prize is really like winning a console - something specifically made to play games on and thats what i want it for
Sides any of you seen them glow with the lights off? hehee they look cool.
