get a brinkster account (http://www.brinkster.com/) and go to http://forum.snitz.com/ and follow the instructions. You just have to upload files, follow the instructions and edit the options.

phpbb has the "hassle" of mysql (seriously though, it isnt a hassle at all, its a very easy concept to get to know)

snitz would be a good idea, that uses an access database doesnt it? all that needs is to be uploaded in the right place

if you just want a forum, and really cant be bothered that much to set it up (although theyre not hard, but finding a good free host WITH scripting is hard), then i'd recommend http://www.boardnation.com

Topcities dosen't support PHP or mySQL Databases, so PHPBB is out of the question, unless he wants to find a host that does.

Snitz works with Microsoft database. You just upload some files and change the settings to work with Brinkster.

www.aimoo.com is also an option, but you can't edit the files or anything.

Yes the ugly adds on Aimoo boards are a shame, because otherwise their forum design is the best "free" forum for people who cannot host a php based board I've found.

Phpbb really is very easy and stable though You just need to make sure your webhost allows php (Most free-hosts don't )
