Dead Marionettes


The title of the game is Dead Marionettes, but you can also call this... the remorn ZOMBIFIED! I like the new name more, so I am sticking with it. So what made me start this project again? WARNING: Playing Left 4 Dead 2 might make you want to do a zombie game!!! And why not going with the name "Zombified"? Well, this is no longer just a zombie infection. I am gonna have some special zombies around too, but don't worry, the idea is the same;

- One bite you are dead
- The infected only die from a headshot
- No bullet count or weapon hud
- And this time: No crosshair!
- No extra lifes
Other:
- Lots of more levels than the original was going to have!
- Alot better levels!

Story:
The infection has been spreading around for weeks now. I think the whole world is infected, but how should I know. I have been forced to lock myself into this rotting hotel room. There was dozens of infected after me, so I didn't have anywhere else to go. But I think it's safe for me to move now, and I think I'll have go out of here now. This place is starting to fall apart and it's smelly rotting, I'm out of food and everything else AND this freakin' place so freaking scary too. I loved this place before but now it's just one damn house of the dead. ยด
My plan is simple. I'll get out and find survivors! I need to get out from this hotel building and through the yard and then I can continue my journey. I'll probably start looking from a hospital or mall or something, so that I can get supllies at the same time.

Gun list (for now):

Level List:
Ch1:
lvl 1. Hotel Rooms (The starting place, beware as you are not armed yet...
lvl 2. The Yard (First outdoor level, it's kinda small, becouse I needed to shrink it down in order to work)
lvl 3. Warehouse (This must be the best level in the 1st chapter)

Ch2:
lvl 1. Hospital (hospital scene, you don't have the ammo from the first chapter anymore, so...)
lvl 2. Basement (semi small, but pretty fun thou... This level was one of the funniest to make)
lvl 3. Hotel (Semi freeroam in a hotel. This is totally the best level of the second chapter!)

Ch3:
lvl 1. Gunshop (My favourite level of the whole game. It was fun to make and it is kinda sun to play. Here you will meet somthing you would never want to meet)
lvl 2. Slaughter House (Kinda small, but has alot of zombies and other infected there. Outdoor and indoor)

I will be updating this thread for you people! I will be making a demo soon! I hope you like my work, but I got some things:
1: Anybody know if Bond1's zombies are never going to be released again? I think it was just stupid that they were taken out in the first place. Or if they will not be there again, will they be released anywhere else, or would it be possible getting them in any way in the worls, as tehy are the best zombies ever!

@ screenie 2: what kind of bedroom in a house is built with such a grungy wall? either add a nicer wall with some light scratch or grunge dirt effects, or replace the bed with a cot or a pad or something.

I'm guessing you used that wall cos it's shader model 2.0?

In some screenshots I see overlays... Please put them on the floor textures.
Overall it looks cool! Keep it up and please, don't abadon it.

It's a tad TOO dark. It's very hard to see some of the stuff in the background.

Other than that, the attention to detail is top notch, and the environments seem very creepy! I'm hoping that the enemies are going to be very scary! "Dead Marionettes" sounds like a game thay should give people nightmares!

Kravenwolf, no, just create a new room segment with the same walls, but the floor with the overlay texture on it.

That's how I make it in Canalyst...

Same criticism, too dark. Other than that your level design is very nice, look forward to seeing some gameplay for this

...or just make a overlay entity. That would be far simpler, and you will have far more possibilities.

Zombified was looking cool but this one is just looks like few rooms with no light. Because I can't see anything. My suggestion finish the first Zombified you made.

I didn't abandon the 1st one, my computer wasn't working anymore and I lost all the files.

Well, this is far more than few sooms woth no light. The first level is inside a hotel, so there is only inside gameplay, but second level; there you get to play on the hotel yard!

This is the second time I'm writing this, becouse I accidentaly pressed a favourited link... So that sucked, becouse there was a lot of text in here, but here goes again:

I have finished the 1st chapter and I got some choises for you, you can decide wich one would be the best option:
1. I will release the 1st chapter as a demo now.
2. I will wait and make the whole thing ready and then post it.
3. I will release the whole game in chapters and there will be many small games instead of one big game.

You're doing much better with the lighting! See how easier it is now to see the environments?

If you want more reference for your lighting, look at other games like Doom 3.

I've been waiting over 20 minutes for the first screen to load... I just don't get why it doesn't load!

EDIT: and when I try to save it, it shows 6 hours remaining... But the other screens show...

I am tying to build, but now it just randomly errors where it wants to. At first, it errored in loading guns, then I tried to figure this out for long, then I decided that nothing works, so I just deleted all teh guns from there, then it gave soe other error (I don't remember what it was) I solved that some time ago and now it gives me a 3rd error randomly in some spot. Always a different spot.

Ah. That's because you are building something too big. Something that always helps me:

Start building.

Go into Task Manager.

Look under Processes.

Find FPSC-Game*32

Set it's priority to "realtime"

And your game will get a much-needed boost. Not guaranteed to work, but it helped me.

Hit ctrl-alt-delete. There should be an option to open task manager. Open that up. It's not an FPSC thing, it's a windows thing.

OH! It's that thing. My comps language is finnish, so I didn't know what task manager is
