ok, i am just playing around with DB to get a hang of it before i try to make any games or applications of any kind. so i made a 3d object in 3D studio MAX 4.2. and i saved it as a *.3ds, when i ran the program, it gave me an error that the file doesnt exist, i KNOW it does exist, i KNOW that i put in all the right commands and files. is there something wrong with my image? or does it need to be an *.X file?

Yeah:
C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic\tools\DBConv.exe

Cheers,

I used 3ds in dbc no problem, and in dbp with update 5. If you can't get 3ds working, try converting to x with what Rich said. There is also a converter named conv3ds.exe you can dload on the net.

good luck
