Is it possible to have background music change when a certain enemy dies? and also is it possible to have said enemy run from you? like not just run whenever but when you get to a certain spot. Any help is much appreciated!

Yes, both are fairly easy to do. Download the FPI edit pad, and go to you`re FPSC directory and in docs there should be a user-manual and a comunity guide. There are some good tutorials there (ive heard)...

Change music on enemy death:

Go to the enemy main script and add the following line to it:

In state 0, add: sound=YOURMUSICFILE.wav

Then add the following line somewhere in the script:

:healthless=1:stopsound,sound=MUSICFILE2.wav

To make the enemy run away, you'd have to make a custom script. Look into the commands which makes an enemy move, and use the condition plrdistwithin=X to detect the player.
