Hey guys,

I've had alot of posts on my site recently regarding people wanting to purchase LYTEFX and buttercutter. I'm honoured that people still want to use them, I had no idea there was still demand. Thing is, when I was selling it I had trouble keeping up with orders, and eventually stopped, because I upset a few people, and that wasn't what I set out to do.

I don't want people to go without though, and I want to help game makers, so I'm thinking about re-releasing them.

Before I do, there are a few questions I want to put to you the forum.

1) I don't want to sell these packs any more. I can't be bothered with the financial implications/tax declarations etc. I just want to give them away for free. Would people who paid for it 2 years ago mind me making it free now?

2) Some of the files are probably no-longer compatible with FPSC - I'm thinking the breakable walls are animated and the meshes probably not right for V383248932 or whatever it is now. Anyone really care? anyone willing to fix it for the latest versions once it's out?

3) Shall I get it on the store?

4) I would offer NO tech support for it (that was a nightmare last time). Again, anyone care?

Please if you are responding reply in the following format (so it's easier for me to read later on), if you're not going to post in that format, then please don't clog the thread with other questions etc!

1)answer: Personaly I woudn't care. I own both, and they're great. I have also gotten e-mails asking about them when folks see them in my screen shots.

Even Bond1 has requested the no one release any mods of his new shaders for 6mo. to a year to let them run they're coarse.

As you said these are already 2 years old, and the price was so low, that is was well worth it to be able to use them 2 years before the free release.

I've developed a new philosophy... I only dread one day at a time.

1. Nope, I say go for it. Everyone deserves to be able to experiance these great programs.

2. I've had no problems with any of the programs so far (although I did once get an illegal mesh error but was fixed by reinstalling).

3. Sure, it would increase your audience, right?

4. Nope, tech support shouldn't have been such an issue anyway, it's just install then click where you want holes.

1.I bought the stuff but I dont mind making it free.
2.The old versions work perfectly well with the new FPSC so no porting or modifying is needed.
3.I dont mind having no technical support since all works perfectly well.

1i remeber i purchased these and loved them.
2i lost them in a hard drive crash,
3i managed to recover them at 1 point but not the password,
4i think it would be real nice of you to release them for free.

1. I just released HoleZ and everyone was OK with it. No one will care.
2. I'm sure someone will fix whatever doesn't work.
3. I don't think it matters where you release it. The major content sites would be happy to host it as well.
4. As is - no warranty. That's how it is with free stuff.

How you been, bud? Have you got anything weird in the works?

In format of:
Funny answer(actual answer)

1) Release them. I want them. And I get what I want. (sure)
2) If not, make them work so I can have them. (I think they work fine.)
3) If it makes me get them slower then NOOOOOOOOO!!! (sure, go ahead, I don't care)
4) But if I have problems that make me not use them then NOOOOOOOEESS!!!!!!!! (I don't care.)

Overall, I think its great you're releasing them for free, and I think you have a green light.

Agreed?

1. I never purchased them (wasn't around back then) but I certainly won't mind if you release them.
2. I wouldn't care, plus people seem to be saying that they work.
3. The store would be fine, or just a download site. Either way.
4. Don't care in the slightest. If I get problems, I'll find a way to fix them.

Questions: I've heard alot about LYTEFX, but I've never seen a picture of it. Do you have a link to a gallery?
Comments: These would be great contributions to the community.

1) I bought them and it doesn't worry me.

2) I know Buttercutter works fine with the latest version of FPSC as I still use it...

3) It might be good to put them there, but I don't know what sort of hoops you'll have to jump through to put them up there.

4) Not me, but I imagine that if you put them on the store some form of tech support would be necessary.

2)I can also tell that it still works great... because I downloaded it...illegaly..sorry (but I wouldn`t ever have used it in a game I would have released! Just for testing... I also downloaded lyte FX, but man! Its cool but I didn`t like it so I made my own )

3) Why not? ...but nah, keep it in the forum...as an "insider"

4) Never cared about any sort of tech support

1) I bought them both and wouldn't mind if you gave them away as they are amazing tools.

2) I'm sure if there is a problem I could easily fix them up.

3) It would be sweet if you put them up on the store.

4) I've used both tools for a while now so I guess if I have problems I'll make a plan.
