Hi Folks.

I am trying to get my head around how I can edit 3D models and what software I use to do this, but feel like I am going in circles.

What I wanted to do/try was load a model, play around with it and its animation, then call it back into DB. I can handle the DB side, but cannot find the right software to edit models. I bought DarkBasic Studio thinking it had a good collection of tools to get started, this came with Cartography Shop, but it seems that cannot handle all the formats - unless I am missing something? Its import option is greyed out.

So for example I wanted to play with the Colonel.Z model provided with DB, which has 4 files:

Col_Z.TGA - texture?
ColZ.3DS - 3DS format model
ColZ.X - (X format model?)
ColZ_Run.X - (X format model with animation?)

What software is best used to edit this formats?

Regards.

There are several 3D modeling programs that you could use, even free ones. This thread should help you.
