Trashed Memories - Story

For as long as I can remember I have been in the shelter, kept safe from the darkness by flickering and dying oil lamps.
We hide around the abandoned train trucks, every so often leaving to find food, water and other supplies to keep us alive.
We are hiding from the shadows, from the dead. An abomonation of science, the dead wander and destroy anything they find
that's even remotely alive. We don't know why, but they will take anyone away that they can, and are never seen again.
We are known as The Avengers.

Yesterday though, all the adventurers left. They said they were going to counter-attack the dead, they told me to stay,
apparently it was safer than fighting the dead. I have some guns and ammunition, but they don't boost my spirit, they
don't make me feel safer. The dead aren't going to die, so what will this gun do? The dead have surrounded the plaza, I
need to survive; I could be the last one. Although I know there is no chance of survival, something inside is telling me
to fight on, to survive. But the memories of my mother haunt me. She went missing so long ago, my dreams are clouded with images of her. But I must go on and survive. I ran.

I couldn't stop running, the dead wouldn't stop either. Adreniline pumped through my veins as I fled their decaying grip.
But then, I saw a building. I went in, slammed the door. There was scratching and groaning from the other side. I locked
it, everything seemed fine. But I looked around, and suddenly I felt ten times worse being in here than outside. This
place, seemed so familiar, evoking memories of my past, my mother. But there's no time to stop and wait, I must continue.

if you read i cancelled it since FPSC its not the best engine for Story driven....
so Kraven what do you think...the level design will be variate and wont seem to be one of "MY games"

I like the screens, Well I think:

The first Screen need more range of the lights, I think, because this look like without lightmaps

The second its good, but need a light for the [b]sun light.

you may want to watch your outdoor lighting. outsides need careful care to do correctly. you don't want the player seeing too much of the sky, or the game seems "fake" keep tall buildings, and don't be afraid to place small lights to illuminate certain sections without lightsources. outdoor areas should almost NEVER have 0 ambience unless you know how to do them correctly.

im using lights of range 350..to pretend some sunlight (even if its cloudy thats why is not Grey-yellow ish ;D

Nice progress with the levels but it looks like the old classic Bloody James game. You should go for a different approach in level designing

Good to see your improving your levels. Even areas already looked over seem to be getting second edits. Good to see your not rushing through the creation of it.

Like it alot!!

How did you light those neon tubes? I am using a file from the German website. Gatterlamp or something. When i try to light it i get a really rough cylinder instead of a proper neon tube like yours.

I like the way you tell the story from the point of view of the character instead of writing any pseudo scientific BS about the heritage of the zombies! Thats a big plus! (No Seriously!...I can`t hear any storys about secret labs and Umbrella 2.0 Clones)

btw,wolf..all...ill leave you to think about the building..it will be a surprise.. story right now written and been packed by The Imperfect Sheep and i can deveal the age of the main char...17 years old...its really cool cause he is still doubting (normal in teenagers) and he is more sensible to fear than an normal adult

Bigsnake is rigging guns for the game only...so if the rig doesnt work..ill use normal EAI guns

In that gory screenie, focus your lighting on the gory object, if you don't it's unnoticable to the eye of a player.

also, of you're going for horror, you're keeping your lights too high up above the players eyeline. keep them lower to mix things up, I might also suggest using a cooler colour pallate because: 1. fluorescant lamps don't cast orange light and 2. a warm coloured environment is much more inviting and less scary than a cool coloured environment.
