Hi, I noticed that this game (Quake Live), has very high quality textures and to play online only requires download a plug-in of 2.8 MB. My concern is; I'd be able to make commercial games with FPS creator in the future?. Can we for example spend 6 months developing a game and of course sell it if at the same time game developers are building games with powerful engines?. FPS creator is the best software for people with non programming skills, but I don't want to do it for fun. What you think? I will appreciate any thoughts (positives and negatives). Thanks, Javier

For multiplayer? No, not unless you can edit the source and make a PROPER multiplayer option. Singleplayer however is a possibility, but it requires quite some effort, custom media, scripting and most likely for some neat effects you'll want to grab a mod or something.

I think Multiplayer is possible, but selling it would be a difficult task as there is alot of competition from bigger dogs.
However, if you gave your game away, you could possibly sell add-on,such as new characters, weapon attachments, or whatever you could come up with. Games such as Combat Arms, Blackshot, and Cross Fire employ this strategy. That being said, there are no grenades in the stock arenas, I believe a source code edit is needed to bypass this restriction. It was taken out because of lag, so you would have to address this problem also. Frames per second is critical in arena, so care must be taken when designing your arenas. The road to a successful multiplayer game is long and difficult, but easier than if you tried to do it with other programs/engines. A lot of work has been done in FPSC for you, so a person can have a realistic chance at pulling it off.

You cant compete with Quake Live because its a browser based multiplayer shooter and FPSC only works standalone.

You can use Unity engine to make a browser based game and that engine is free now.

Commercial FPSC games are definately possible but would be better if aimed at singleplayer games because multiplayer is just too limited to be commercially viable with things like modern warfare 2 and bad company 2.

As a minimum we need dynamic entities and scripts to work across a network of FPSC players.

You also got UDK which is 100% free exept when you wanna sell it. You have to pay $99 (Roughly £50)

Windows 7, Amd Athlon 7750 Black Editon (64 bit,3ghz + Dual Core), ATI Readon HD 4870 1gb Edition, 4gb Ram.
