the subject says it all, i'm looking for a free utitilty program to turn .3DS files into .X . thanks guys

if you have Dark Basic classic, you could use the function
3ds2x "*.3ds","*.X"
That function will convert the specified 3ds to an x file ready for use.

If you have DarkBASIC, just look in here:

C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic\tools

For DBConv.exe

conv3ds.exe which is part of the MS DX8.1 SDK I believe. It also comes as part of gmax (in one of the sub dir after install)
