I was wondering if you can create a script that plays an animation of a entity when its destroyed. Like the model is still there when destroyed but it plays an animation. I believe it would be a destroy script. To sum all of this up in MW2 if you shoot a trash can a couple of times the lid pops off and some trash and papers fly out.

Yes it's totally possible, but you must include those extra anims in the entity's file and .fpe.

None of the stock entities have extra anims, but you can set a crate to use a "destroyed" texture after it is shot for example.

I am currently learning how to script but its so confusing.

the code snippet means nothing, its going to require you to animate the trash can coming apart.
