I hear that with every copy of Vissual Studio is included the freely distributable Command Line Visual Basic Compiler. Does anybody know where this file can be found, and/or how to use it?

The reason I need this although I am using Visual Studio is because I want to continue my current project in school, but know for a fact they won't let me break the law by using a copy of Visual Studio

If you are referring to the command line compiler for Visual Studio .NET there is help for it on microsoft's site, just go there and search the compiler exe name, or try

It's really just VB7 i think. I use VB6 Enterprise, but rarely, as I hate VB.

VB NET is NOT COM so yes vb net or vb7 is not the same as vb6, but you can use 6 in conjunction with 7. So if you have vb dll's, AX controls or whatever you can pull them into .net project where .NET will wrap the com stuff in an INTEROP dll

.net is sweet!
(of course I would say that as I use it professionally)

If you're interested in using VB to make 3d games look into TrueVision 3d (Version 6) I just dloaded and installed. It's pretty sweet. It is COM but like I said you can interop wrap for .NET
