anyone know how to fix the following problem????::
flower : pretty :: pig : not
ok, jus had to do that.... anyway the problem:
When i start up Dark Basic, it says: Could not open DDRAW.DLL
ect. ect. ect.
anyone know?

DirectDraw error. Reinstall DirectX? Do you have 9.0b?

that is the direct draw dll from the direct x library
is DX ok on your machine?
Sounds like dx got trashed, try reinstall.

is anything else working? (ie other games etc)??

now when it restarts for directX 9.0, then it says the illegal operation thing that we've all seen at leaste 1nce, Dxdllreg

when i run DXDIAG, it jus gets a bunch of errors, illegal operations, ect. but in the DirectX section, no problems found it says

Try installing Direct X 8, 9's kinda buggy.

aah, I thought he was using 9.0b. you can't use patch 5 if running dx8, so try 9.0b first.

2. Uninstall DarkBASIC
3. Uninstall Direct X
4. Update Virus Software
5. Run Virus Scan
6. Install Direct X 9.0b
7. Install DarkBASIC

Working on 4 projects 2 RPG(programming texturing and 3d map), 1 3rd person shooter (Programming), and a special project.

when reinstalling everything MAKE SURE VIRUS SOFTWARE IS OFF/DEAD/LIMBO'D/KILLED/NOT RUNNING

in fact don't even install virus protect sw until all is working!!!

ok.. i've3 tried alot, not the virus thing, re-install darkbasic all that what snake said, but its not only dark basic, its for some other of my programs/games too, please think of a better way to help?

ummm... when i waz havin problems wit sound, dell told me to reseat sound card, should i do that to fix ddraw.dll too? srry if i sound newbish, but is soundcard video card? r they same? does soundcar effect the video card if they not the same?

No, a soundcard isn't a video card although DirectX will access the soundcard through the sound card drivers. Theoretically it could affect DirectX, but not very likely - its more probable that the DirectX stuff isn't valid in the registry or one or more files is corrupt.

ug, a windows 98 error happened to me, i've fixed 2 of the problems: screen,a nd printer.
The sound and i guess directX were effected...
