Cuz they all stoopid! This game looks ok, but everything's allmost all stock and the environments look extremely unrealistic as they have allmost no lights.

I like what I see here, very 'doom' style layouts.

I would personaly like to add that there's nothing wrong with using 'stock' media which you have shown here can produce good results if used well.
Some lighting can only make this look/feel even better than it is already.

All the best of luck with this.

lol, did you really, like REALLY mean that???

But it looks like they have potential, and some maps actually look ok. But especially the open ´space looks VERY bad. I know what's the idea in it, but why? For me that looks like lazyness...

Sniper city is propably the besst looking one, from what I see, or the last, that's name I don't see... Heights also looks pretty cool, but then are teh ones like open space or house the third one.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things that I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

Hi, what version of FPSC did you create this with? I'm interested in trying the online multiplayer. Did you build this all with FPSC?

thanks

Sorry for late reply. I have spent ages trying to fix this, but with knxrb's help I think I have fixed this

Will post new link later on today and a singleplayer demo version will come with it. It won't be Bots that keep respawning sadly as respawning for me is buggy.

I created it with V1.15 or 1.16 can't remember and I built the game launcher with Visual Basic and the game (maps) with FPSC.

And not telling you how to improve? There is not anything wrong with stock media, if you can make it look interesting. There is alot of free segment and model packs out there. And these maps, to be honest, don't look very interesting. It's better to have couple of good maps, than alot of bad maps.

So you posted the game on the FPSC WIP board which is used to give criticism and voice opinions on user's games?

Quote: "Uhh, What is the matter with stock media?"

The problem with stock media is that everyone on this forum has seen it used countless times. However, this doesn't mean that it can't still look good and fresh. You need good level design and lighting to pull it off. Looking at one of your maps, a square room with boxes and barrels in it and one bland light doesn't fit those criteria.

The problem is that your main fan base will be on this forum. Arena multiplayer games are hard enough to keep alive as it is, yet you expect random people to pay £2 for it when they can get the likes of Counter Strike for about £5? If I was making an arena game, no matter what the quality, I'd probably sell it for 50p and aim it at the community. There just isn't enough usability and too few people actually play them online.

Now, have a look at this:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=149342&b=25

Notice something? It's all stock media, however it's used brilliantly. It looks innovative, the level design is great and the use of lighting is top notch. There is no reason why you couldn't make something similarly awesome by putting some time and effort into it.

Remember one thing: Quality over quantity - always. The fact you have loads of maps is not a unique selling point. As someone else stated, it just looks lazy.

Sorry if I seemed a little blunt at times, but I am just trying to help (that's what this board is for after all).

Yeah ok thanks butt monkey
I will look into improving the lighting.

Also this game is ment to be basic. Its like old deathmatch games used to be like. Not having to go around buying weapons, not having a crosshair etc. Retro you could call it like good old Doom, ahhh those were the days

Gun_Guy... The point we are trying to tell you is noone will by it because it is simple and basic. When someone looks at a game they look for originality, atmosphere etc. And buttmonkey is right your fanbase is going to be this forum. I mean why would we pay for something we could have done ourselves. However, if you put a good bit of time into it and custom media it would be unique and something people would want to buy. But to be honest even good arena games on these forums that are free still noone plays them.

Just some C&C, OutdoorGamer
