Hey music forum, I am here to ask about the process of editing/mastering a track, because that is the task I have ahead of me. I have a song in which the drums quite significantly (but not entirely) dominate the song, because of the limitations we had when recording (meaning that there is only one layer on which everything was played).

I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to quieten up the drums and allow the guitars and lyrics to be heard better, with something preferrably free like Audacity, can it be done?

Hi Tom J.
Unless you have a seperate track for the drums you may want to EQ the drums, cutting the higher freqeuences will lower the voloume of the drums.

This however will also cut richer sounds such as guitars or leads.

Hope this helps
