Hi,
I'm having a really weird issue with exporting my weapons right now, I re-rigged it once already, but the weapon always comes out stretched all over the place and barely retaining the animation.

All dandy in Max:

The resulting export:

Any insights?

Thanks,

SamHH

Try reset xform before skinning and animating.
Collapse the stack before applying skin modifier. Panda .x export doesnt like more than one modifier in the stack on export.

LOL thats ok hope it helps, might not be your problem but I have a feeling thats where its at.
Also ensure that your model is positioned correctly where you want it before applying xform reset.

Hey, um, I'm wondering, when you make models in max, and export them, does it ALL have to be one model, or maybe 4 separate models (1 gun, 1 clip, 2 hands) and do you have to make bones inside the gun too(SMOKE, clip, FIRESPOT, BRASS) and lastly, do you have to link anything?

Try it my way, download .smd export and import plugin for 3dsmax and get it in. Then export the animation and model and merge them in Fragmotion. Then just save as .x file and done! Works awesomly.

So I don't have to make any bones in max?

Nvm. But when I get everything into fragmotion, it's all messed up. Does everything have to be in one mesh in max? Or does it all have to be linked to something?

My answer wasn't meant for you You need to link your models to bones. The meshes must be separate for example clip, arm and gun.

Should all the bones be linked to the 'SMOKE' bone?

Defiler...SHH! It is, but I did edit them a little, so it's not stealing or anything. Good observation though.
