i cont see you subdivided the whole cannon's barrel, that isn't neccessar you should have just subdivided the side edges, all those unneccessary tri's while really add a lot of polies, and i wouldn't use a 32 sided cylinder if i were you, 8 is for olw polies, 16 for mid range (which you should use) and 32 for higher poly models, the screen has so many unused polies, you need to clean up the structure of all these models, the carpet should be at most 1 quad or 2 tri's, just out of curiousity how long have you been modelling, because 3Ds max is a pretty proffesional and expensive program to start with, if you are

thats WAY too many polies, and not using a UV map is extrordanairily inefficient, i find it hard to believe myself that you've only been modeling for 4 months and you decided to spend 3 grand on 3dsmax, do you have a student lisence

ok i still dont think you made the car model

after looking at all your other models there all made from basic primatives with very simple textures just what you would expect from a beginner. you then throw in a very nice looking car model that is made up of many complex shapes all fitting together perfectly also the fact that the model is triangulated (max models in quads as default )

add to that this statment

Quote: "yes and no i de-dint bay for it my uncle did as far as i know "

your uncle gave you a $3000 software

im sorry if im wrong but i had to work hard to buy my copy of max & have worked even harder to get to the level im at in modeling & texturing so when i see someone i think is shamming i get a little cranky

cheers henry

Hey henry i just want to point out that I also find this questionable. In the screenshot of the audi provided you can see the icon for the program utorrent, which is a widely known torrent downloading application.

I think joiund has some explaining to do, as I am confused on this I hope what I am thinking is not true, if so then great models and keep at it!

Your not alone henry, the skill level gaps are far too much for any normal user. 2000 polies for the cannon, then 3000 for a fully modeled and realativly detailed car.

Could you provide proof that is your model?

@ teamhalo

Not all torrents are illegal Its just widely assumed that they are. Though im not claiming otherwise but having a crowbar makes not the burglar

Just to play devils advocate about the 3d max license, There are ways to use autodesk products at home as long as you don't use them to sell models or for educational purposes. For example if you use 3dmax or autodesk inventor at work your boss is allowed to allow you to install a copy on your home pc as long as it is off work premises, not used for monetary gain, etc, etc. This can all be found on autodesks web site, or somewhere at work I have a copy of the home use agreement if anyone really wants me to dig it out. Maybe his uncle has it at home just for that reason...or not, Just sayin. However, if someone uses them in a commercial game, there might be some gray area.

And yes Henry, I agree piracy upsets me too.

also, if you understand any autodesk software UI, you jump between them and learn very quickly, maybe he has used other autodesk pieces and only has 4 months in MAX. I learned Inventor with no books in about a week at my job, because it was either do what it took to keep the job, or go back to unemployment.

EDIT, sorry about the double post.

Why would you torrent a car model? when you can download one from a website?

I'm sorry but i highly doubt that while running a 3000 program presenting us with models he says are his but are very different in terms of quality, that he would just so happen to be downloading OpenOffice at this time. That is the only ligitimate use I know of for a torrent, but I am sure there are others out there as well.

It's too much of a coincidence if you ask me...
