Hi All,
I downloaded the free segment Kit that TGC put out, the one that they made for there own use. The only problem i am have with it is my textures will not show up in the folder for textures. Now I can delete the textute that there and put my own texture with the same name that the deleted texture had and it will work. but if I try any other name other than the ones that came with it they do not show up. have anyone had this problem? is there a way to make them show up?
Thank you
renny

That segment editor is a pain to use in my opinion.

Why don't you download the 'free' version of the program 'Signs' which can be found through 'fpscfree.com' which is easy to use for creating room segments and many other things as well.

I also recommend purchasing this program.

All the best of luck

sadsack,

In my opinion, FPS Creator’s Segment Edit Kit and Entity Maker, are fine tools. So, too answer your question. If you what to use a shader or an effect, you will need at least three images.

1) A diffuse map, the file name must end with ( _D.tga ).
2) A detail map, this is the image SEK is looking for. This image ends with ( _D2.tga ).
3) And a normal map, this end with ( _N.tga ).

If shader or effect is not used. Just use #2.

Hope this helped.

FYI,

Do you know, all these programs are doing is, writing a text file? FPI files are ai, FPE files are entities and FPS files are segments. The texture tearing problem I spoke to you about on another thread, I just open up the FPS File and offset the offz0, which took care of that problem. Why even .FX file are text files. This gets to my next point. I looked through a few .FX files and it appears that the other image files depend on what shader or effect your using. So, if your not using effects you can name the image file anything. Segment Edit Kit will look for files ending with _D2.tga and only display them in the texture folder.

sadsack, you seem to really inspire me.

yes, I found that out, so when you make a new seg you have to name all the textures ending _D2.tga. but that how life is, it make you sick then you die..................
