Hey,

I have got a character, and its fully animated (with all possible animations) i use it for biped for my game. But why does it load so slow? It takes ages [3Minutes], it hasnt anything to do with my computer. Any ideas? Settings?

Is it because i check for limbs at init.

Or any other possible settings i might have forgotten?

Thanks,

RedEye

I have this exact problem on my laptop, loading a 3.5mb model, although my older desktop computer loads it in no time, I made a thread a while ago but never really got to the bottom of it.

Maybe you should try exporting it to .DBO (with FragMotion or something). I think the native DarkBasic format has shorter loading times...

But what is a

?

Now the plot thickens, the fps decreases, and the awesomeness goes through the roof.

Ha alright.

And sorry for wierd explanation, .

I have .X character that is fully animated, so i cant export it as a dbo, (when loaded no lag tho). It has no texture, as i use it as biped. (=hidden object)
It is 10.6 MB. Yeah, kinda alot, but take another engine, like UDK, it loads up extremly fast.

Any ways to load models up faster. Any tricks, or systems?

Thanks,

This really pisses me off...

With 3d Model Viewer it loads like in 5 seconds, with me it takes forever, just a 2.5 model .X file, with animations...
Altought just a random model like a whole level, takes only 7 seconds with me.

Attached it.

Its fpsc biped.[just to experiment] (Also free to get at TGC FPSC Site.)

Note i just use: dbLoadObject
