Hello everybody. My name is Joe. I'm quite new to the whole 3D realm.

Quite recently I got Autodesk's Maya. Messing around with the program, I've figured out how to create a decent looking flame, and wondered if the community was in need of some fire or similar-looking Animations?

I was also pretty decent in making .MIDI and .OGG media at one point, and I could also narrate files. I've done this for a majority of projects and whatnot, editing my voice for different types of characters.

I'm not outstanding, as some of you in the community ARE, but I feel as though I have some potential. I easily get aggravated, and I have ADD.. but that doesn't really affect me when it comes to doing stuff I love, and mainly anything dealing with the computer is that type of motivation.

If there's something I CANNOT do, that's character model, granted it's only been a few weeks with Maya, but I don't believe I can.. I've worked with 2D graphics quite a bit, and was working on a project I called "Isnatary" but, recently my computer crashed, and I was forced to reformat it and lost all my progress...

When I first worked with 2D, I could "re-colour" quite easily, all it required me to do, was change the color of the graphic.. Easy enough.. Which is why I have Photoshop.

Now I'm not sure if there's still a usage for Photoshop or if the re-texturing method is the same as re-colouring..

Sorry for making this long, but anyways. I'll be here and work my hardest for the community.

I have attached a screenshot of my flame.

Thanks, Joe.

Well what operating system are you running? If you are running vista or windows 7 you can get it back. In order to do quality textureing, retextureing and texture edit you'll also want to keep photoshop and use it, and also gimp and paint.net all 3 combine to make some killer programs which when used together can make almost anything. Not sure if this was your question as i only skimmed but i hope i anserwed it.

I am running windows XP, believe me, I couldn't find a way to get it back.. two years, and my computer crashed for an unknown reason...

I have Gimp and Photoshop... So, I can use those to re-colour or edit to some degree, then import, and have a new, edited gun/something?

Shame about your files then, I recomend saving up to get windows 7 cause then if it crashes again and you need to reformat your computer, you can get absolutly everything back.

I edited the gun in gimp, it's not the best but, hey i did it in ten minutes. I also edited the floors in gimp to make them look grungy. So yeah you'll still need photoshop if you want to texture or texture edit.

Ahh, they look quite nice. If I upgrade my computer to windows 7, will it still be able to run most of these programs?? Haha, I should ask: Will my computer still be ABLE to run windows 7?

I haven't the slightest clue what specs you need for me to be able to run it, but I can honestly say that I have a PoS computer.

Motherboard is an IBM Rev:2.8 they don't even make these anymore, from what I can tell...
I can't even tell if there's a registered Graphics Card on my computer. There isn't one read......

500gb harddrive, 1gb ram

yeah.. that's my outdated computer for ya

The 32 bit's requirements are,

1 GHz 32-bit processor
1 GB of RAM
DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM driver model 1.0 (For Aero)
16 GB of free disk space
DVD drive (only to install from DVD/CD Media)

i'm useing a dell insperon 1525 and i can easily run this, skype, playlist.com, and sims 3 all at the same time, and i have, 220 gigs of harddrive space and 2 gigs of ram. So i'm not that much higher then you, and in hardive you blow me away. You should run it fine.

look in the fpi or the fps find the directory of the texture hunt it down, rename the orginal, copy the original past the original, name the copy the originals orginal name, then open up the copy and edit it.
