i uv mapped this scifi grenade i quickly made and the texture i applied was inside the model
any ideas on how to fix it?

Select the mesh in edit mode [A], press [W], and then select 'Flip Normals'.

how do u UV map in blender?
Im starting to make my OWN models so I need a UV map as a guideline for the model im making
