As the thread title says, I was wondering if the community would benefit from a few Comic Style Model Packs? At the moment I'm working on a shader, that will hopefully work, that will render out objects in FPSC giving them a comic shaded look.

Quick test(no shader test yet):

Hi , nice model. I like this style.

How do you feel about turbosquid? How much have you made from the website? Thank you.

Alright cool. I was thinking of building a set of models in the style of the PS2 game XIII. I've never seen anything like this in any of the model packs or in the community for that matter. Thought it would be a fun project.

Any ideas and suggestions welcomed.

I think I'll plan on selling these models. I have around 100 planned out. Looking at a 10-20$ price range.

Go for $10. I think that's a fair price.

They look awesome, if the black borderlines weren't as thick, it'd remind me of Borderlands for sure

I think it is a wonderful idea, since expanding the genres will vary the options for the consumer.
Some people have complained about some of the Model Packs for looking "cartoonish", but there are plenty of people who like that style.

The idea of creating a special shader for them sounds great too.
Good luck with that, and I look forward to seeing it in action.

Experimentation is the heart of innovation, and that is what enables technology to advance.
So, if it hasn't been done yet, then that is more reason to try it.

Go for it.

Have Fun!

I say do a theme first, like sci-fi or modern day or something.
There was a poll taken about which kind of pack the community would like to see awhile back, so a search for it may yield something.
I know that poll was not for comic style, but it still might give you a good idea of what the majority of users are looking for in a pack.
I would say sci-fi, but only because I thought a Jetsons (the original cartoons) style movie would be cool to do.
Another one of my never finished projects sitting on a back burner, but I do have plans for a cartoon project.

I think sci-fi would be fun because unlike the real world items in a modern day pack, you could use your imagination to create cool wacky machines that have never been seen before.

Anyway,
Good luck with this project.

Thanks for the comments and ideas. It seems the poll suggests I should go for a sci-fi horror pack. Might be interesting. I'll give it a go.

There is just one problem with it, is the cartoon shader you plan on using fpsc compatible, is it easy to use does it require dark shader, ect.

I'm in the works of making it usable in FPSC, that's the whole idea.

@The Grunge Guy, all shaders that are FX (HLSL or HSLS, don't remember) that can work inside of FPSC don't require anything from the outside - no programs, in other words. The only thing they do require is a nice computer
