I have been using DBPro for ages now but have thus far stuck to 2D.

I am trying my hand at 3D now and am making slow but steady progress. I am trying to make a strategy game and I need to make some units. What software do I need to get to do this? I would also like to know how you would go about making some animation for these units (e.g. a walking animation). Finally, how can I learn how to implement these things into my code?

Appreciate any and all help,

FieldDoc,

for modeling try Wings 3d or anim8tor (free), for texturing and unwraping try Lith Unwrap from Simples site (also free) You can make animations directly in DB or DBpro ...for example try my Walker MECH demo, I was posting in DB discussion as source code:
http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=8590&b=10&p=0

If you want to spend some money buy Milkshape, you can model, texture and animate in one program.

And ...read manual of DBclasic -its much better and complex than one for DBpro and most thimngs there apply for DBpro as well. Try examples and play with theyr code ...try whats happened when you modifi something or remove it ...this way rou can learn about each command. I recomend to go through each command in 3d section. Most things about DB I learned in its manual.

And finaly there are some tutorials at DBpro site ...look at them.

Alternatively, there are some more free 3d editors out there. Try JTEdit or DeleD for example. It might be a good idea to try a bunch of editors so you can determine what kind of editor works best for you (you really need to feel compfertable with an editor, me thinks).

Use DeleD to get skilled in 3d editing! Visit http://www.gamefortress.com/delgine for more info.

You're better off making them outside,I haven't seen many nice animations made in db or dbp.
