Ive tried out trueSpace 7.6. The UI is hard to get and I havent done anything yet. But I want to know if there are any better 3D tools that work better with DBP.

I forget where, but there's an option to use the Legacy interface in trueSpace. I like the old interface much better. I wish they had been able to continue production of gameSpace. That was going to be an excellent product geared towards game model making.

There are many other alternatives. Blender is free and popular, and there are many others in the 3D forums here that use it.

Keep trying trueSpace though. It's worth the effort.

Go to Caligari.com and download all of their training videos (which are now free) and use those to learn the interface. It helps a lot.

Yeah I know its good, but the tutorials dont tell me how to even make grass. And there arent many people using trueSpace ever since Microsoft bought it.
Is Blender easy to use, though?

I love Blender, but its UI is notoriously complicated and relies heavily on hotkeys. It's great once you get used to it, but that can take some time.

Truespace was ok, i could never really get the accuracy i wanted with it though. Saying that though it was a very long time ago so maybe it was not a great version... 3.5 i think it was... anyway i digress..

in the past i've used
Cinema 4D
Maya
3DS max

I prefer 3ds max out of them all, i find it the easiest to use, but it is a bit pricey.

I can see from your smile, you're not here for the sunset

If you want to try Blender you'll need a good tutorial.

Just do your research and keep trying things, you'll find one for your eventually .

The 3D tool you should use? It really depends on your preferences and budget.

While it has a trial version available, registration I think is $35 US now, but Milkshape is a low-poly modeler that I have found adequate for DBPro games. I like it best for the ease of character animation. Milkshape v 1.84.

So many games to code.......so little time.

I say use Blender. It's UI and hotkeys takes a while to get used to, but it's free and works great when you get the hang of it.

I always recommend Blender. It's by far the most robustly featured 3D package out there unless you're willing to hand over a couple thousand dollars. Even then, I feel like it can easily compete with Max and Maya.

People always criticize the interface for being different, but I love it. As BMac said, it relies on a lot of hot keys, but it's very efficient when you get used to it. Aaannnnd, Blender 2.5 Beta is supposed to come out some time this week!!!! I'm so excited!

I highly recommend 3ds max, its not free like blender but its UI is pretty easy to grasp. You can download a 30 day free trial from there website
