In order to use FPSC X10 you need to have DirectX10.1.

Direct X11 is very very buggy and causes almost everyone to have crashes and media errors.

Download DirectX10.1 that will fix it.

I am running FPS Creator X10 in Direct X 11 on 64bit Windows 7. I5 750 8gb ram, The Card is Nvidia GTX 470 1280mb 320 bit. The card allows you to build games in less time in FPSC X10 than on the ATI cards I had, amazing. I just updated from two hd3850 ATI cards that were cross fire connected. I have come to the conclusion that Fps Creator is 50%-80% compatible during build game with HD3850 ATI when in cross fire mode, meaning it will crash when you add certain preset buggy character or other entities. When you turn off cross fire build game works 80% of the time, When you turn on cross fire, it will crash during game play, slow down in certain locations using the stock model libraries for characters and segments from The Game Creators. Not only, each card had 512 mb, 256 bit memory bus and they are blazing fast for other programs. There are some memory leaks in the pre made models I do not know how to fix. Working in FPSC x10 latest release when shooting the enemy from the modern pack, they disappear instead of fall to the ground and then repopulate below the feet of another random nearby enemy soldier, causing the other soldier's x, y movements to stop, feet in motion but no x,y movement. Additionally the solders feet will disappear below the floor surface to their ankles as if the walk surface had displaced below the texture surface on its own. This occured in both ATI HD 3850 and in Nvidia GTX 470. Another problem some of the model packs and specifically the subway pack the track segment are very heavy to GPU memory it is a simple map on a polygonal model. I can import .x Terrain with 1000's of polygons with one complete UV texture map and it works quick. TGC I wanted you to be aware of these issues. I believe the GTX 470 and higher Nvidia cards will be sufficient for FPSC X10.

You don't need to downgrade dx at all to get things to work... you simply need to install the latest redistributable version of directx and make sure your graphics drivers are up to date and you will be good to go...

the reason you experience crashes is do to not having a full dx 10.1 legacy in the version of dx11 that ships with windows 7... installing the redist.. version will ensure you have all the required dx10.1 files to run fpsc x10 properly..

here is a download link for the current redist... of directx
