there are a few programs to do this. Iconforge is good:

I know a links page is more for your non professional web page, but I feel a links page to all these sorts of programs would be useful.

Do you need to use resource hacker? DBPro can make your icon whatever you want , just need the .ico

just get an icon image editor. look on google, there's gotta be a free one out there. I use the one built into Visual Studio .NET Enterprise Architect
