Newcomers DBPro Corner / stuck in activation loop

Installed the DBPro free version and got an activation code.
After entering my email address and the order key it said:
"Order Key Verified. Product is now activated."
When I go to run a program the activation dialog pops up again.
Using Vista - installed into its own directory under C:.

Vista probably isn't letting DBP write what it needs to in the registry. Have you seen this?

I was trying the examples and the bubble text points to the wrong icon. Discovered this by reinstalling from scratch. The U75 update points me to the wrong icon - how confusing.
On a side note - the new update wants compatability mode disabled.

Problem solved - but this may confuse other new users.
