[ DF Shaders Dev Thread - 56k Warning ]
By: DarkFrost

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction:
Hey DarkFrost here. After testing out v1.17 and notices all the new features, one thing stood out to me. The possibilities that have been opened up now, especially for shader development. I recently noticed CoZ beginning to test out some of his custom shaders with it, inspiring me to do the same. I've always wanted to see what I myself could come up with and now that time has come. I'm even considering releasing them for free, but that will have to wait for another day.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here I will display all the shaders I create and experiment with. They will be divided into their respectable categories.

Thanks!

Added 2 more. The Black and White one is based off of the screen in CoZ's thread, yet I couldn't figure out how to throw in DoF as well like he did.

Added another one a couple minutes ago. Not sure what I did but it seems to sharpen everything on screen.

I understand, tho I believe the contrast is what created the effect. I'l try out a low contrast full screen shader next. Tho I've also been tweaking character shaders to get more releastic lighting off them. I'll continue working on these tomorrow.

Hmm..looks like I have competition....game on!. Looks decent DF although I suggest learning some HLSL because using Dark Shader examples begins to look slightly bland if can't edit them. For example, from experience, I can tell you that the "sharpen" shader begins to cause problems at low ambience on some objects due to creating a very thin greenish line around them due to highlighting the edges. However, with a few code edits, you can get round it.
Your black and white shader looks good, although I suggest perhaps adding some focal blur code to achive a DOF effect. Not trying to bring you down, just some useful advice for you.

If you need help you know where to find me. And since you now have your own thread, would you mind removing your most recent post from my shader WIP thread please

Alright thanks for the advice. I'll look into HLSL and see what I can learn. Btw sure I'll remove my post, no need for it to be sitting in your thread Btw my sharpen hasn't caused this greenish line you speak off so maybe it's okay. Tho I'll definitely try to get some DoF in the grey scale one. After that I'm going to try a hue FSS than I'll give character shading a shot. Also thanks are needed here for your insiration to get me started.

They look great, considering Shaders can be quite difficult. Nice work, and I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Sorry, I haven't had that much time to work on these. I've been reading up on HLSL when I get the free time. This thread can slide down for now.

Thanks PWP with time it'll get better.

Cheers,
