...sorry it took so long.

Crysis, I scaled the tower to be a good fit for FPSC's segments and enemy characters.

To keep everything simple, I added the ladder mesh into the tower. I remapped
everything, and used your originally supplied texture as the source.

I spent the afternoon testing this out in FPSC, and really had a blast with it.

I'm hopeful that others will find it useful, as well.

Nice tower Crysis and Seth! Although I'd like it better three segments high (now it's two segments?). Of course that would be a lot of work at this point..

At present, you'd need to:

1. Rescale the guard tower, keeping accurate registration of the width and floor height
to allow use with FPSC segments.

2. Create custom stairs spanning 2 segments in height.

or

3. Incorporate Xplosys' scriptable ladder system spanning 2 segments in height. The
invisible ramp method is not stackable, and simply scaling the ladder/ramp longer will
create such an accute angle that the player will not be able to climb it.


The screenshot is a little deceiving. The guard towers appear shorter than they
really are during gameplay.

In the screenshot, the player is standing in one of the towers, having just killed
the enemy soldiers sniping at him in the other two towers.

The single segment height wasn't distracting and didn't really seem out of place,
in the inpromtu level that I threw together.

Feel free to make changes to suit your personal needs.

Seth,I have to correct you here.I made a 5 segment high slope,which when rotated at a certain angle can be used as a ladder support to make it climbable.

You can find it somewhere along the last pages of bruce's Seclusion thread I think.

I simply helped Crysis make this functional, nothing more.

As already stated, folks are welcome to customize this in any way they see fit.

If you've got a 5-story tower laying around, by all means equip it with a 5-story ladder.

More power to you, if you can get the illusion to work properly for you.

The angle is your choice.Use SHIFT+5/6 (or was it 1/2 or 3/4 lol) to adjust it in the editor.

Yes it is invisible and it's 1/4th of a segment wide,but you can add as many as you want.

Thanks for that model guys, I will use it when I get the chance.
I would have downladed it and implemented it already but my computer isnt working. (It is to be sent off for repairs as the BIOS isnt working properly and windows is corrupted) So I will take a look ASAP.

Hey, I am just wondering. Would it be possible to have the ladder on a slope, without the sloping part of the entity, to allow player to climb the ladder, but also, to allow the player to shoot through the ladder?

...I'm done working with Crysis' model.

There are some things you can do, to get the result you're after:

1. Open Guard Tower & Ladder.x in your modeling app, and harvest the ladder mesh,
while omitting everything else.

Export it, create its own .fpe file, thumbnail image, and you'll have a seperate entity
to use in the map editor.

or

2. Acquire a ladder of your choosing, create an .fpe file, thumbnail image, and use it in
the map editor, with the Guard Tower entity provided previously.

3. Position the ladder entity in the level, and rotate it to the desired angle with the
1-6 keys.

I may have missed it in this thread. What is the permitted usage on the tower? Commercial and non-commercial, or just non-commercial?

Either way, thanks again for the efforts and work. We have been wanting to make a tower ourselves, but it kept getting put on the back burner with other priorities. This now completes the media we needed for our WW2 developments.

I can change the textures, but because I am dong a commercial development that is WW2-based, the tower was something that we would like to include.

Do you make HUDs? if so can you make some including these things :

And if your up to it can you make a developmetn logo for me? like it would be a fist with red crosshair covering it whit CrossHair Games under it? i dont know how to add multiple pictures to one with gimp...

Hope i am not to late to ad suggestions for models as i have just joined the forum but i am making a zombie game but i can't fined an ambulance model.

Really, any overlays that would work outside would be really appreciated - any terrian, just these three are needed by me atm.
Take your time, don't feel pressured.

Grass could be done in a little patch of randomly sprouting grass? ^-^ That probably is the main thing.
