I'm pretty sure games created in Dark Basic Professional are compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7...

Is that all? Assuming the computer has DirectX 9.0c or later, will Windows 98/ME/2000/NT games run on it at all?

Probably, but not for sure.There is some insupearble diferences in all this OS's so you can expect your game to work just on some.And i'm not even sure that all of them support DirectX 9.0c.I speak for Windows 98 which is out of support long long ago...

OK. I tried out a game I made in DBPro Upgrade 1.075 on a Windows 98SE computer (with DirectX 9.0c), and a dialog popped up:

This program expects a newer version of Windows.
Upgrade your Windows version.

Then I installed DBPro 1.054 (which was in my order) on another computer (which runs Windows Vista), changed the code a little, and re-compiled it. That version didn't work on the 98SE computer either, and the "Upgrade" dialog was replaced by an "Error" dialog.

It would be nice to know which operating systems are compatible with my games (there are still a lot of Windows 98 users).

Do games created with DBPro still work in Windows 2000? I'd like to be able to list the operating systems that my game is compatible with.

If not, I assume the only compatible ones are XP, Vista, and 7.

XP, Vista and 7 are it. Windows 2000, and any of the Windows Server versions wont run DBPro apps. I don't know if anyone has tried on Windows Server 2008, but simple apps wouldn't run on my 2000 Pro, or Server 2003 boxes.

DB Pro requires DX 9.0, which I think goes back as far as 2000. Vista and Win 7 require DX 9.0 to be installed too.

Really? If so I'm willing to be their not the gaming type...unless it's online poker if that's even possible on 98.
