Well hello folks after quite a bit of effort, ive finished Merift;

His development is here, Link

Now as the title suggests everything is not so good lol. Ive used bullstocks fpsc toolbox to import him over. Double checked the fpi settings and removed shaders, lighting and even reduced texture quality and generally hit my head against the wall trying to get this guy to work. But this is all i get;

Now he moves, attacks and has all the right sounds but just wont be visible. Ive racked my brains trying to figure this out. I even read all 36 previous threads and did all the steps mentioned to no avail.

Heres a break down of my stuff, i would normally post the model up, but i want to see if i can get into the store and get some of my other work in there too

FPI;

Heres the images of the export settings from max 2010, panda .x exporter and The directory of the entitiy showing its files and names.

If anything else is needed dont hesitate to ask. This has gave me a hell of a headache so who-ever helps fix it, ill pass on the working version for free.

-Con

First off change your texture name to merift_D2.dds unless you plan to use a shader.
Use appear2.fpi.
Delete the .bin and dbo files, start up FPSC, first time you run it turn of shaders sometimes it can be any number of things makes a model invisible mostly it can be shader related.

As for Panda settings:
Binary wth compression
Check box 'bones'

As you say your animation appears to be working fine its not your export thats at fault if the texture appears on the model in Max then its fine.

This is a wild shot, but have you tried converting the image to .TGA, .PNG or .JPG? Chances are that the DDS is corrupted in a way which FPSC can't fix. That's what I can think of now, I'll check up for any more help tomorrow ASAP (probs about 5:30PM+ when I get back from work) .

-EDIT- Nice timing Rolfy .

Some graphics cards do not support some of the newer FPSC shaders, so I suggest trying your model without any shaders to eliminate this from the list of causes.

If the model shows up with Shaders turned off, then this is a shader problem, although I doubt that this is.

Nice model, by the way.

Oh! one last thing make sure your dds texture does not have a full black alpha channel and if using PS export DXT1 with no alpha, I take it your not using transparency.

Thanks for the replys guys

Though i may have now broke fpsc lol. I re-exported the .x with your instructions rolfy, used the nivida plugin for dds export changed the fpi and deleted the bin and dbo files.

Heres the kicker (302) creating entity instances ... 1/2 -{ a start arrow and merift}-

Then it sticks, then i get the error message;

I restart fpsc, put the arrow and compile and itll work, so it is just the model.

I really do despise fpsc right now lol... I sure it hates me, there cant be any other reasons lol. I had the same problems with Arei a while back which in the end just wouldnt import. Actually before that aswell with dredge though that was my fault lol. If you dont mind rolfy and SikaSina, if i email a rar with with a few converted file formats and the fpsc gear, could you take a look at them? .3ds, .max, .

I know its asking a bit much but ive spent an four days before i posted this trying to get it to work, now i seem to have made it worse >___<"

It cant be performance/compatability issues since i running a 19.2ghz Amd II X6 core with a hd ati readon 5770 vapore 1gb and 2gb ddr Ram and everything is uptodate.

Ive put the files into the download here (5.33mb), ill email each of you the password now.

Just to clarify for others, the work cannot be opened without the password.

I'll try it lazerus, I'll check the textures and see if a static non-animated version of it works . Glad to help ya laz .

-EDIT- I had a problem with the character, even changing it to JPG, TGA or BMP still crashes the game. I'll try re-exporting it through FragMotion and then see what happens best bet is corrupt animations.

On the other hand, the model and texture are fine. I imported it as a non-animated, static model and got the attached result (X10). X10 will always throw a hissy if there's something wrong so I can fix it completely hopefully.

Double post, sorry .

I'm one step closer, I found out the problem with the model: there's a loose bone which causes an animation problem. I exported it with Compression and 24 FPS and the model works as shown by the shadow in the pic from X10. Now the next bit is the texture. I don't know if it's the effect (although the other X10 characters share bumpbone.fx) so I will try it without the shader and then with a different texture format.

Heh, probably . There was a Merift1 bone which stayed there, must've been from the export . I deleted it and it worked. Now trying to get the texture working xD.
