I just tried the tut, DBP TUT 1

Screen Scrolling Techniques

It will not run as posted. I had to mess around to get it to compile.
Has something changed since then (it is fairly dated)?
This is what I have. Is this as it was intended?

If so, they really should fix it. Kinda frustrating to do a tut that wont run! A total noob will have fits with that!

Hummm...
Grog, I did/do have it that way in my code! I don't know where those extra slashes come from!
I'll post it again, to see if it puts them in there.

Posted correctly that time.
Curious....

It works for me (see attached image). What is it doing for you or what error is it giving you?

I think I need to explain a little better.

The code I posted, is not how the code is given in the tut.
I made some changes to get it to work.

When I typed the code just as written in the tut, I got nothing but a blue screen.

I just posted here so someone who actually knows what they are doing could have a look at the tut. I messes up, or the code is to outdated to work with 7.4. If it is the code, then it should be removed or updated.

I do know what I'm doing... I'm not the the newbie here.

It's not really a good idea to insult somebody who's trying to help you. It's only you that can't seem to get it to work. I tried the tutorial exactly the way it's written also and it works fine (see attached screenshot of tutorial code).

Perhaps you should update to the latest version of Darkbasic Pro which is 7.5.

@ Grog,
I am sorry you took it that way. I meant no offense. Really!
I checked back here to post that I did do something wrong apparently. I tried again and it ran fine. I think the only difference being that the first time I ran it I had two instances of the IDE open and a compiled exe. Maybe that caused a problem. I checked my code over (many times).
My typing skills are crap at best.

So my bad as they say.
Again Grog, I meant no offense.

No problem then. I'm glad it finally worked for you.
