Hi, I am new to 3d modeling. I'm looking for a free or priced 3d modeler that is very easy to use to make characters like on .hack//sign, super smash bros. melee, or jet set radio. I have drawn all of my objects and characters on paper, but I need a program that make 3d models. Anyone have any suggestions?

anim8tor wings3d, or milkshape. let me forwarn you though. those are PROFESSIONAL works of art, and your models may never look even half as good at those, so take your time in learning.

Milkshape and animator for professionals?? oooki!

Must be why Blizzard uses them j/k

For free,Wings is the best all-purpose modeler, note that it's a dedicated modeler and does only that.

If you wanna spend money but get less tools and modeling features go for 3dCanvas,it can animate, texture and all,it's great.

Simple's models are pretty nice and they're made with Milkshape, however I agree with you on Anim8tor.

All biasism aside, the only thing that'll really prevent you from creating a work of art is you. Basicly try a bunch of them, pick one or two and master it.

Have you seen or tried to animate the arms on simple's model, without any egeloop it give kinda ackward distortion on the mesh,I know just from looking at it.

Plus, have you ever tried to Uvmap triangular meshes, you got like twice the amount of line on-screen.

Simple's models do look good though.

Modelling for games is much harder for animated characters.

Have you tried to animate one of my models then actarus ?? ... do you even know how to animate ??
I seem to have NO problems what so ever once I've set up my weights.

The only model which might have a little trouble animating would be my free thug model. Which is one reason why it's free.

As for any of my other models .... they all anim perfectly

I agree, with triangular meshes you dont have to worry about funky texture distortions
