Story :The year was 2011.In a small city named Gortown a great leader rised.He called himself the new son of gods and was very popular among the people.But soon he started to invite people to take suicide.
In a few weaks the whole town was dead and the son of gods continued to another town.You are a professonal assassin and your mission was to kill him before he reached the other town.But you failed...

Yūrei are Japanese ghosts, ones who have been bound to the physical world through strong emotions which do not allow them to pass on. Depending on the emotion that binds them, they manifest as a particular type of ghost.

You were sleepingover in an old asylum but when you awaken you realised somthing was wrong.


Yurei is a fpsc horror game WITHOUT zombies and viruses.

I don't like the tile ceiling... it does good as a floor, but as a ceiling, it doesen't look too good...

Mmmm... you are right I shuold change it...


Working on the first scares off the game now.
The first level will not have weapons and enimies but big scares !
I have thinked about making few battles and instead have action like the game penumbra (you know,runnig from monsters and hiding...)
Changed the last snapshot lights so its looks better.

Snapshots coming soon on a computer near you !

Also, the entity placement looks quite ... strange. At least on Screen 1

But the textures are outstanding. Nice work, keep it up!

You need light sources and of course using the same ceilingtexture as the floor is awful

Looks good the only thing is that the tiles on screens 1 and 3 are also the roof IF you can change that, be my guest

Yeah, it's annoying if you have upstairs with the same segment, you have to use the same segment as teh ceiling... :-(

Review:

Atmosphere:
-the atmosphere was very creepy which made the game scarier

Sound:
-the sounds in the game were scary but low quality and distorted.

Suspense:
-the game had a good amount of suspense to it when turning corners.

Level Design:
-the level design added to the suspense because of narrow halls and small rooms.

Environment:
the environment was ok but it should have more player interaction, like dynamic entities, investigations, and various objects (ex.light switches and keys) with these it makes the player feel like they're actually there, making the game much more scary.

Bug:

Review:

Lighting:Turn up the lighting some more in the setup as there were seems on the walls and killed what was a good scary atmosphere,also the lighting didnt match the light source what i mean by that is the lighting was just off from one of the ceiling lights which made it look like it wasnt the light source.

Level design:Was pretty good but maybe needs some more entities for example some wall pics and hangings(i found a cool wall hanging model pack on the webb if you want it?mostly nazi stuff though).

Music/atmos:The distorted music suited the level and i think that should be left in as it is, you should have turned off the default stock atmos as it can be heared in the background i dont understand why you used a soundzone for the main atmos?

Bug:I see you used the metro pack antique table and as there are no full shaders activated you can see it looks odd and distorted looking.

Bare in mind that i could use <> to change the lighting in which you should use a script to stop it.
Keep working on it cos i did have a fright which doesnt happen to me a lot when i play a horror fps which says you have a talent for scary moments,also work on the lighting a little,the building looks like its been un-used for years yet the electricity still works on nearly every light?try and go for outside light sources shining in or use a flshlight scripted so that the battery doesnt last long and has to recharge?
Like i said keep working on it cos it is scary

About the rewiews :

I will ad investigation scripts when the update including pick up condation comes out (so I can use storyteller1 scripts)

I don't have any enemies on this level only characters with way points.

I didn't ad shaders to it because my graphic card don't suport pixel shader 2.0

I should fix moore with the sounds and remove the stock atmosper sound.

I played it!

Lighting: Some places were just way too dark but the lighting where i could see most of the part was pretty impressive!

Music:The music suited the level and I think that should be left in as it is.

Level design:Was pretty good but very repetitive in my opinion. Add more uniqueness to a level by making multiple routes and walkways.

Yeah I noticed this as well. Plus the characters, besides the corpses of the mp22 characters, must have been invisible since I didn't see any.

Overally a good demo. A few tweaks here and there and your set for a great looking game!

Well I just figured out that I build it with shaders but my computer dosen't support pixel shader 2.0 so I understand if the characters was invisble.

I will fix little in the level (add some moore ways and take of the shader and fix others bugs) and maybe do it a little bit longer !

It would take some days untill I can start with level 2 (wich will have enemies !)

Hmm, as waiting for the update for one mod, Phobia 2 development is slowed down and I dont have anything better to do...

If I can, I could beta test it as well.
So is it a horror game, and it is supposed to be scary? I can test it and say what I think about it, and tell how to improve.

@Jonez Games : I will send you a mail soon after I have uploaded a new file (BETA 2) wich will contain a new version of the level with moore choises and viseble enimies.

If you want to test the first version of Level 1 (BETA 1) tell me and I will send you a mail with a link (BETA 1 has invisible characters and no path choises,and of course no investigation (need 1.18))

The finnal game will have about 10 levels I think

The rubble looks extremely out of place in the second to last screenshot. If youre going to put rubble in random places atleast have it appear to actually be part of the geometry, not a pile placed as an afterthought . Otherwise Im liking the screens...
