Different programming language, same engine. C++ is much more powerful than DBPro as a language, you can make much bigger, expandable projects and it's faster.

as zotoaser said, GDK (C++) is better, BUT keep that in mind: GDK LACKS SUPPORT! a mod passes by here once a year or two, bugs/updates are really rare. (dunno if it's the same with dbp haha)

anyhow, if you're going to use GDK, i suggest you to learn C++ first, dont rush into game programming

Dark GDK is way more powerful, it makes things a whole lot more organized, and It is also a hell of a lot more complicated and you'll find yourself spending sleepless nights dedicated to figure something out. I definitely prefer C++, DarkBasic is okay, but it's not used for anything else besides game programming, so why get really in depth into that when C++ is pretty standard and can be used for WAY more things than dark basic.

A good portion of the magic in C++/DGDK is in Microsoft's Visual C++ Express, STL, and many other C++ Libraries, that make life easier. I can remember many moons ago when I attempted C++ with a Borland Turbo C++, lets just say it was a very painful experience. Today, C++ makes more sense and I appreciate its features.
