How do you get lightwave models into DarkBASIC? My friend, who is modelling for my program, is having trouble with his exporting. I'm not sure what methods he has tried.

Also, what would be a good polygon count for a person model? Ie a fisherman, of whom there would be a few dozen in a level, and a couple dozen more types of people (lots of models in memory) what kind of poly count would I need?

I don't have LW, but 3D models for 3D games for me go something like:
300 and under - low poly
300-800 - mid poly
800+ - hi poly

The lower the amount, the better, as long as it looks good and runs fast,
that's all that I care about.

thats the most commonly used directx exporter for lightwave, unless he's doing some advanced weightmapping and IK, it shouldn't have any issues. Theres should be some tutorials/settings sitting somewhere on this forum...check page 2 or 3
