Would a book on Visual Basic help or hinder the Dark Basic learning curve. I know there are differences in the Dark Basic language, which is why I am asking before I go out and buy a book.

If picking up a book on visual basic is a good idea can anyone recommend a book for a complete newbie?

Visual Basic is more into object oriented and event driven programming. It also provides facilities for web and windows forms programming, something that DBPro lacks. It helps a little in terms of general programming knowledge and algorithms, but the focus is entirely different.

visual basic 6 is more like dbpro language then vb.net, but visual basic 6 is there no longer. and vb.net is much different with dbpro.

if you ask me, its nice if you would know both languages but there are totally different.

dbpro is much easier to pickup then vb.net, i would go for dbpro first.

*happy coding on his 3D Construx Editor*
