Hey all, long since I made a contribution. It is a zombie alien texture. Download the .rar and enjoy! Hope you all like it. Also if you want (you don't have to) please post screenshots of it being used in fpsc! I would love to see them.

edit, I removed the download because of license issues. Sorry for the mess up, I could have swore that I read somewhere someone said that you could use filter forge textures for commercial useage. Wont do that again. I am very sorry for the mistake. I'll try to make a new one

Of course its seamless its a grunged up filter forge texture called veins.

Wouldn't mind but when you say folks cant redistribute or claim it as their own, neither should you really.
I do own a copy of flter forge and its the reason I knew this filter, thing is, if you own it yourself why not tweak the filter parameters then it really would be your own. Looks like yours was just grabbed off the site. I see no reason for your 'license'.

Since it seems you did take it from the site heres the part of their license you should have read before posting this.

I guess so but it's been altered massively. How do you notice those things.

I think you've done an alright job altering it though, it looks very good, but at least give some credit

The whole point is that the texture has been altered, it clearly states that it may be distributed unaltered.
What irks me is when its said you can use it for personal/non commercial and the poster puts his own license on it and lets you guys go ahead and use it. Giving credit to filter forge wont alter the fact it cant be used commercially.
Of course I could be completely wrong in all of this in which case I would apologise for it. But I asked this guy before how he created textures and got a cryptic answer from him saying he used Fireworks (even though he had PS), those textures looked like sliced up/overlayed filter forge too and only a few around here could have done those by hand from scratch which was what he implied he did. I learned a long time ago that its not what people say but what they dont say.

Maybe what folks should realise is I am not the only one around here that has an eye for it and be a little more honest and up front about where they get their scources.

As I said I will apologise if wrong and I could be, maybe

I edited the top post and removed the download. Sorry everybody. Also, I don't even have photoshop, and I have never used it. I didn't mean for anything to be wrong.

@Hamburger That was the right thing to do, we all make mistakes. You might have misunderstood the rules here. Please don't let this experience, keep you from the forums. This is a great community.

Hey Rolfy, a fellow Filter Forge user! That's been my secret weapon the last few years, I've been using since the release of version 1, and Filter Forge 2 is even better.

Sadly, you do get people just downloading the preset textures from the website and passing them off as "look at the texture I made" - but for FF users they are SO easy to spot!

I know. I have used FF too. It's a great program, but it anin't too flexible.

I'll try to read into the rules more next time so I don't end up spending time with the fuzz

As ZP says dont let this put you off, at least you can man up and admit you made a mistake. Just be careful what you release around here, many folks are creating commercial games and trust the media creators to not get them into any trouble.
Golden rule, if you didnt make it, dont release it here.
You can use filter forge textures for commercial use provided you own the software and output it yourself, thing is really doesnt take much to change a filter thus making it your own, the texture you used was simply downloaded from the site which is covered by FF website license.

Quote: "It's a great program, but it anin't too flexible."

Its actually very flexible if you use the flter modules to create or tweak your own.

Its actually the wife that purchased it, she's really good with it too, I have been tryng to get her to create a few packs of textures for FPSC her stuff is excellent and she is a real pro with Photoshop. Sometimes she really blows me away with her skills
She hasn't upgraded to V2 yet but reckon she will soon enough. How are you liking V2?
Thing is FF makes fantastic base textures and with a little more work they can be outstanding, I wouldn't recommend just using the basic output of most of 'em as they are kinda dull straight out of the box.

The killer feature for me is the new search tool. I'm a filter hoarder, and I never liked the idea of having to connect to their website to search for a filter that I probably already had. So the ability to search your own filters within the program was enough for me to upgrade.

I don't create a whole lot of filters from scratch, but I do like taking existing filters and modifiying them. You can see some remnants of FF in many of my characters if you look close, especially in the normal maps.

It's cool that your wife is into this stuff. Mine doesn't quite "get" the 3D stuff that I do, although she's impressed with it. I've taught her the basics of photoshop, and she enjoys it.

Yeah she used to create media for Second life, mostly furniture pieces, she's a real all rounder doing her own building, texturing and scripting. Now she mostly sticks to textures with both an in world store and sells on the xchange too.
She can make a good few bucks doing this and treats it as a real business.

Yes you can
Its best not to simply output the presets though, there has been some contention concerning this, its easy enough to tweak existing filters (mostly user created) to output your own, just use the presets as a starting point.
Oh! and there are a couple of different versions, pro and basic, the basic version does not output normal, specular maps etc just the texture and you cant save the filter modules to create your own.
