Hello everyone.
Yesterday, I was going through the fps creator guide (not the manual) and it had a tutorial on making levels with google sketchup. The only problem is, that the level is exported as an entity, not a segment. After searching various things, such as 'making an entity into a segment' and 'sketchup and segments', I found nothing. So does anybody know how to export sketchup projects to segments?

Well, let me try to answer this for you.

Google Sketchup is a good 3D modeling program. Personally, I prefer Fragmotion and Wings3D, with Lithunwrap for UV mapping. The key here is modeling program. They cannot make FPS Creator ready, entities or segments. To make segment, you need to make a wall, floor and/or ceiling model. Then prepare the fps file using those models. Search the game creators forum. There is a wealth of information in that little search box, at the bottom of the page.

if you are making a whole level as one object you want it as an entity because then you can apply polygon collision to the mode insteam of box collision

@bndelano
Yes, and i use the search box all the time. it is my friend, as is google (not sketchup in this instance) However, there were no answered threads about this.

@Mazz426
Thankyou. I was hoping this would not be the case, as i do not wish for the player to be shot through walls. Anyway, maybe then I will just place walls through the entity walls.

Thanks.

You would need to get the free plugin for exporting .x from sketchup, then model your wall, corner and floor geometry as seperate models in sketchup and put it all together with the segment editor that can be downloaded for free at TheGameCreators site. If you read my tutorial in the guide you already know where to dl the plugin for sketchup...I did a lot of segments that way but it has a little learning curve built in, my first segments were kind of crappy. The segment editor is NOT suited to export a whole level, thats why I chose entity for my tutorial....

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.
