I'm currently learning how to compress files, so what i am going to do aswell is compress it into one file. (this part isn't why i made this thread)

However, say i did have it compressing and uncompressing 100%, but this data was being stored in a char, how would i tell dark basic, to instead of load from a file, but to load the data from this char?

If i'm understanding you correctly it sounds like you want to use memblocks. You can create some functions for handling your uncompressed data into a memblock depending on the file type and then do something like dbCreateBitmapFromMemblock();. If this is what you mean then I can help you further or you can search the fourms, I belive there are quite a few posts on the subject.
